What is Spotlight?
Spotlight is the City of Ottawa’s cultural and special event calendar that allows you to search and obtain information on events in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
How do I search for an event?
There are a number of ways to search this site. You either use the Quick Search tool on the right of the screen, search by date using the calendar, or browse by event type. Otherwise, you can use the Advanced Search if you have more specific needs.
Why did my search yield no events?
You may have been too specific with your search. Try again using wider search criteria.
Can I print my selected event?
Yes! From the detailed description of the event, you will find a link to a Printable Version at the top right hand corner.
Can I tell my friends about an event that I find?
Yes you can share an event with a friend. From the detailed description of the event, click on E-mail to a friend and fill out the requested information.
What is a Feature event?
Each week, we showcase a few Feature events that highlight unique and interesting events in and around the city. If you are not sure what you are looking for, why not try one of our recommended choices?
Are there events that I can take my kids to?
Check out our recommendations for family friendly events on our home page. We highlight some interesting events that are suitable for kids and families each week. You can also use the Advanced Search to find all the kid-friendly events that are in the calendar.
Are conventions and meetings listed? What about trade shows?
Unfortunately, we do not accept those events at this time. Check out the Ottawa Tourism web site if you wish to find those types of events.
How do I get directions to an event?
On the detailed description of the event, you’ll find information on getting there, with an external link to a map to the location. If you are planning to take a bus, follow the links to the OC Transpo or Societé de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) web sites; each site has helpful trip planning software to get you to your event. Please be advised that some events in rural areas may not have direct bus access.
How do I submit an event?
On our home page, select Add Your Event located at the top left side of the site. You'll need to register before adding an event. Registration is an easy three-step process requiring you to provide your personal and organization contact information. Once your registration request has been submitted, we will review your request within two business days. Once approved, you will be able to sign in to the event submission site using the user name and password you provided during registration. Once you have signed in, you can submit your events, or change your password and your personal information.
